    Session one: We will discuss the mechanics of a good essay and brainstorm your essay topic. By the end of the consultation, I will provide you with a detailed essay outline so you can hit the ground running with your first draft.

    Session two: We will read through your first draft and make adjustments as needed. This session will focus on content, organization, and tone.

    Session three: We will go through the essay with a fine-tooth comb and polish it at the sentence level. This session focuses on diction, syntax, and making sure that your individual voice comes through.

  • Already done with your application, but still want a second set of eyes on it? Sign up for the asynchronous package!

    This service includes an in-depth review of your main essay, resume, and short answer responses. Share all of your application materials with me via Google Doc, and I will leave comments and provide line edits. This option is for students who have fully drafted their college application.

About Lucia

Originally from Brownsville, Texas, Lucia Delgado is now a Chicago-based writer and educator. She is a writing consultant who specializes in undergraduate school admissions and has helped dozens of students gain admission to top-ranked schools across the country. Lucia is a native speaker of both English and Spanish and has experience teaching English as a second language.

Lucia won the TACHE Prize for Excellence in Fiction in 2026 and recently published her debut novel, Of the River: A Collection. She is currently represented at Beyond Borders Books, an independent press.
